Inspection An inspection consists of a technician checking to make sure that all the elements of the fire alarm system are working properly. If the system is working properly, it will initiate and signal the fire alarm system to warn the personnel and customers of the situation. Initiating devices that are inspected can include: smoke detectors, heat detectors, tamper switches, waterflow switches, duct detectors, pull stations, etc. Signaling devices that are inspected can include: strobes, audible devices, voice evacuation, supervisory signals, annunciator, etc. If any parts are defective, they will be repaired or replaced. If the system is running properly and passes the inspection, a white service/inspection sticker will be placed on the fire alarm control panel. If the system is not in compliance to the national or local fire alarm code for any reason, then a yellow sticker will be placed on the fire alarm control panel and both the fire marshal and the owner of the system is to be informed as soon as possible by law. If the system is not operating as designed and will not provide adequate fire protection, then a red sticker will be placed on the fire alarm control panel and both the fire marshal and the owner of the system is to be informed immediately by law. |
Pricing Fire alarm inspection pricing varies depending on the size of the building, number of initiating and signaling devices, and height difficulty and accessibility (for example, if a device cannot be reached with a ladder, a lift will be needed at an extra charge).
